What a week it’s been. We saw some explosive moves, some interesting developments, and a few tickers that are definitely worth keeping on your radar for the weekend and into next week. Biotech was the star of the show, with some truly fascinating clinical data and business deals hitting the wires. Let’s break down what caught my eye.
The Biotech Buzz
$ATON - Cyncado Therapeutics
This one really grabbed my attention. Cyncado announced that they observed complete tumor regressions in preclinical models. That’s a huge statement. They achieved this by combining their A2B and A2A receptor antagonists with cancer vaccines. While “preclinical” is the key word here – meaning it’s still very early days – you can’t ignore results like that. It’s a powerful headline that could generate some serious momentum. I’m watching this to see if the market gives it the attention it deserves. A catalyst like this could really get the stock moving if the volume comes in.
$BCAB - BioAtla
Another biotech with some seriously impressive data. BioAtla’s Mecbotamab Vedotin showed a median overall survival of 21.5 months in tough-to-treat soft tissue sarcomas. For patients with refractory cancers, extending survival by this much is a massive win. This kind of data strengthens the case for their drug candidate and could be a major value driver for the company down the road. It’s a longer-term story, but strong clinical results are the foundation of any successful biotech play. Definitely one for the long-term watchlist.
$BFRI - Biofrontera Inc.
Here we have a smart business move. Biofrontera sold the license to its Xepi® antibiotic cream for up to $10 million. This is great news for a small-cap company. It brings in non-dilutive cash, which they can use to fund other parts of their pipeline without having to sell more shares. It’s a strategic move that cleans up the balance sheet and reduces risk. I like seeing management make these kinds of decisions. It shows they’re focused on creating shareholder value.
$IFRX - InflaRx
Get ready for a potential catalyst! InflaRx is set to announce topline data from a Phase 2a trial for a condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. These data readouts are classic “make or break” events for biotech stocks. Good news can send the stock flying, while bad news can cause a major haircut. Given that the announcement is coming, I’m putting this on high alert. This is a binary event play, so it’s high-risk, high-reward. Be ready for volatility.
Security and Infrastructure Plays
$BKYI - BIO-key
Moving away from biotech for a moment, BIO-key announced a significant deal with a major Middle East defense organization. Defense contracts are often lucrative and sticky, meaning they can lead to long-term revenue. This feels like a major validation of their biometric security tech. Landing a defense sector client is a big deal and could open doors to more contracts in the region and beyond. This is the kind of fundamental news that can build a new level of support for a stock.
$MIGI - Mawson Infrastructure Group Inc.
Last but not least, we have a crypto-related name. Mawson extended the lease for its facility in Pennsylvania. In the world of crypto mining, stable and low-cost infrastructure is everything. Securing their facility provides operational stability, which is exactly what investors want to see. It might not be the most exciting headline, but it’s a solid, fundamental step that de-risks their operations. With the crypto market always in flux, having a secure base of operations is a smart move.
That’s all for this week’s wrap-up. It looks like biotech is going to be a hot sector to watch next week, especially with that $IFRX catalyst on the horizon. Have a great weekend, rest up, and get ready for another week of opportunities.
