Market Recap: A Record-Breaking Day

The S&P 500 soared to a new record high today, closing at +0.5%. Despite a disappointing ADP Employment Change Report showing a loss of 33,000 private-sector jobs in June, the market was buoyed by optimism surrounding a new trade deal with Vietnam and strong performances from mega-cap stocks like Tesla (TSLA), Apple (AAPL), NVIDIA (NVDA), and Alphabet (GOOG).
The Russell 2000 (+1.3%) and S&P Midcap 400 (+1.0%) outpaced the S&P 500, signaling continued interest in small- and mid-cap stocks. Advancers outnumbered decliners by more than 2-to-1 on both the NYSE and Nasdaq, showcasing broad-based buying enthusiasm.
However, not all sectors shared the limelight. Health care (-1.0%) lagged due to Centene's (CNC) sharp 40% drop after withdrawing its guidance. Financials (-0.1%) also underperformed, despite major banks announcing dividend hikes and stock buybacks following the Federal Reserve's stress test results.
Top Stories of the Day

4D Molecular Therapeutics (FDMT)
FDMT announced the acceleration of its 4FRONT-2 Phase 3 trial for wet age-related macular degeneration. To offset the costs of this expedited timeline, the company is reducing its workforce by 25%. While the stock closed at $4.31 (+0.16), this strategic move could position FDMT as a leader in ophthalmology.
Opinion: Accelerating clinical trials is a bold move, but layoffs may raise concerns about long-term R&D capabilities. Growth investors should monitor FDMT's progress closely.
Embraer SA (ERJ)
Embraer delivered 61 aircraft in Q2 2025, a 30% YoY increase and a staggering 103% jump from Q1. The stock closed at $59.37 (+0.20). Executive Aviation led the charge with a 41% YoY increase in deliveries.
Opinion: Embraer is flying high, and its diversified portfolio across commercial, executive, and defense aviation makes it a compelling growth stock.
Enterprise Products Partners (EPD)
EPD received a letter from the U.S. Department of Commerce rescinding certain export restrictions on ethane to China. The stock rose to $31.44 (+0.28).
Opinion: This regulatory win could unlock new revenue streams for EPD, making it a solid pick for income-focused investors.

Opinion: Tesla's ability to defy expectations keeps it a favorite among growth investors. With AI and EV momentum, TSLA remains a must-watch.
